Morgan Advanced Materials manufactures a range of alumina components used within metrology applications, for in-process measurement and component inspection systems.
We have a wide variety of alumina grades which are selected for their mechanical properties which include:
- Excellent dimensional stability
- High surface finishes achievable
- High stiffness
With these properties, our components offer superior performance to those made from alternative materials. Two common applications are in surface measurement and dimensional inspection systems for which Morgan manufacture ceramic datum bars and touch probe stems.
Ceramic datum bars:
- High precision finish and dimensional stability. This is critical as it acts as a support on which other components in the system move. To enable high quality measurement, highly precise components must be used in the machines.
Touch probe stems:
- Our ceramic components provide high stiffness and low weight. During any system crash scenarios our probe stem is designed to snap – unlike metal stems which deform and transfer energy into the component being measured and more critically, into the complex and sensitive measurement system.
Our dedicated design team work closely with our customers to develop customised solutions for the end application. Our highly flexible manufacturing means both high and low volumes can be achieved. We source our own raw materials and manufacture our ceramic powders in-house so we can provide full traceability and control over the whole supply chain.
