Porous Alumina

This material, manufactured under the trade name Alsint porous, is a high purity alumina which remains porous due to its grain structure even after high temperature firing.

This results in a better thermal shock resistance than the impervious alumina. The refractoriness is high and similar to Alsint 99,7. Alsint porous is best used as a working tube or a muffle in furnace construction. It is also used for firing supports, props, crucibles and ignition dishes.

Typical characteristics include:

  • High Temperature stability
  • Excellent themal shock resistance
  • Good Thermal insulation

Typical applications include:

  • Furnace Muffles
  • Firing Supports
  • Firing Props
  • Crucibles
  • Ignition Dishes
