Wear Resistant Glass

This innovative line of scanner windows can dramatically improve the lifetime, read accuracy and read rate of laser barcode scanners. Uncoated glass is subject to scratching and scuffing, resulting in poor read accuracy and read rate. MTC DIAMONEX's superior surface has high hardness, chemical resistance and very low friction which means less re-scanning, reduced POS cost and happy customers.

  • Scratch resistant
  • Low friction
  • High hardness
  • Impact resistant
  • Chemically inert
  • Increases productivity

Diamonex

The Diamonex Products division of Morgan Technical Ceramics (MTC) offers its Diamondshield® coating for plastics and polymers used on consumer and portable electronic devices. When applied to plastics via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), this water-clear coating increases surface hardness to that of glass, providing enhanced durability and an increase in abrasion-resistance and wear-resistance.

Diamonex Products’ Diamondshield coating increases the robustness of consumer and portable electronic products by strengthening the surface hardness of the plastic used on these devices; this allows the plastic to have a previously unattainable scratch-resistance while maintaining the weight savings, impact resistance and formability of plastic. Additionally, this coating has exceptional transparency, with a low index of refraction and virtually no absorption in the visible wavelengths.

The Diamondshield coating offers several benefits to end-users. The coating’s increased surface hardness and durability leads to an extended product lifespan, as there is less wear on pieces such as keypads and push buttons, thus eliminating the need to purchase replacement products. Additionally, because the coating is scratch-resistant, screens on electronic devices maintain clarity over time, making them easier to read.

  • Hard coating for plastics
  • Exceptional transparency
  • Very low refraction index
  • Virtually no absorption of visible light
  • Provides durability equal to that of bulk glass
  • Unique combination of physical and performance characteristics that make it the most advanced coating available for soft substrates
