Aluminium Silicate
Aluminium Silicate is one of our specialist high temperature ceramics that is manufactured under the trade name of Sillimantin 60 NG. Due to its unique physical structure, Aluminium Silicate provides excellent porosity, even after high temperature firing.
At Morgan Technical Ceramics our material engineers have the knowledge and experience of high temperature ceramics to develop solutions for extreme environments. Working with clients we combine extensive research and development with our own manufacturing capabilities to provide high performance, yet cost effective solutions.
Aluminium Silicate offers numerous properties, particularly in high temperature environments. Such properties include thermal shock resistance, chemical and physical durability as well as a low, stable thermal expansion coefficient. Aluminium Silicate can also be precision engineered into a wide range of shapes and complicated ceramic components that would not be possible with other ceramic materials. These properties make Aluminium Silicate high temperature ceramics ideal for many kiln applications and other high temperature environments.
Sillimantin 60 NG is most frequently used in furnace construction and for rollers used in Roller Hearth Furnaces, primarily within zones operating between 1100°C - 1300°C, where alternative materials often fail.
Typical Aluminium Silicate characteristics include:
- Excellent high temperature capability
- Exceptional thermal shock resistance
- Low and very stable thermal expansion coefficient
- Excellent mechanical and dialectical strength.
- Resistance to wear, chemicals and also oxidisation.
- Can be precision formed into complex shapes that are not easily achieved with other materials
Typical Aluminium Silicate applications include:
- ThermaliInsulation components
- Dicing support plates for wafer slicing
- Furnace fixtures for glass sealing
- Welding Nozzles
- Kiln Furniture
- Kiln structural components
