Morgan Technical Ceramics (MTC) announced that it continues to expand its range of superior, exceptionally wear-resistant Diamonex® diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings for use in the aerospace industry. The coatings can be applied to a variety of metals, plastics and glass, providing a significant improvement in both product life and operating efficiencies. For aircraft windshields, the DiamondShield® coating reduces the abrasion caused by desert sand environments. Other recent applications include a titanium landing gear bearing refurbishment program, landing lights, and wing tip lenses.

Morgan Technical Ceramics has designed and manufactured the ceramic tips for a ground-breaking medical device from Microsulis Medical Ltd that destroys tumours in a minimally invasive procedure. As a result of using the new system, both patient trauma following surgery and post operation recovery time are significantly reduced. Patients can be sent home on the day of surgery, reducing hospital stays, which is better for the patient and reduces the cost to healthcare providers.

Leading manufacturer of ceramic components Morgan Technical Ceramics exhibited its pioneering ceramic speech valve for the first time in China, at Medtec China in Shanghai, 7th – 8th September. The ceramics specialist worked with University of Hull (UK) spin out company, Avoco Medical Ltd, on a speech-restoration project for patients with throat cancer.

Morgan Technical Ceramics (MTC) announced that its Hayward, California manufacturing site has received the 2011 Environmental Achievement Award from the City of Hayward. Presented by the Hayward City Council in April, the award was given to honor the facility for its notable efforts to preserve and enhance the business community and natural environment. MTC was especially singled out for achieving zero discharge of process water and implementing waste reduction, recycling and pollution prevention initiatives.

Ceramic cores produced with P-52 material exhibit greater dimensional accuracy while maintaining tight tolerances without distortion. They remain stable and rigid at high temperatures, making them ideal for use in investment casting of aerospace engine components.
