Fused Silica
Consists of sintered quartzglass high purity powder with a fine pore structure. Similar to quartzglass, Fused Silica has an extremely low expansion coefficient and thus a very good thermal shock resistance. However, due to its physical structure this material should not be used at temperatures exceeding 1000°C. Fused Silica, manufactured under the Quarzgut trade name, is mainly used in the flat glass industry as rollers in glass tempering furnaces, mostly in the form of solid rollers but also as hollow rollers. Furthermore, firing supports, ignition crucibles, ignition dishes and castables of other geometries for special applications are manufactured out of this material.
Typical characteristics include:
-
Excellent Thermal Shock resistance
-
Good mechanical properties at high temperatures
-
Near zero thermal expansion coefficient
Typical applications include:
-
Conveyor Rollers
-
Refractories components
