Solar Energy
Morgan Technical Ceramics provides a variety of products in the supply chain of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy. Our wide range of engineered materials and assemblies provide robust, inert, and thermally stable solutions that allow our customers to achieve their increasingly demanding goals.

Our custom Performance® Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) crucibles and boats allow CIGS (CuInGaSe) PV solution providers the ability to vapor deposit thin films rapidly. Performance PBN is inert, has low wetting to alloys and is resistant to thermal shock, allowing a long life. Furthermore, beyond making complex shapes, we can also deposit Performance PBN on top of graphite heaters allowing high thermal efficiency.

Large, high-precision, high purity ceramic bars and locator pins for lifting, stacking and aligning glass panels in PVD processing and annealing, provide a superior solution to stainless steel lifters. The ceramic pins are used as locators and separators between key components inside the PVD reaction module chamber. Morgan Technical Ceramics high purity aluminum oxide formulations provide higher strength at elevated temperatures and eliminate buckling associated with metal solutions. Improved chemical stability eliminates contamination on the surface of the glass in processing environments.
High purity Aluminium Oxide, such as our Al-995® Alumina is used frequently in fixturing and supports for silicon wafers. Precision machined shapes can be made to closely support and handle wafers during processing. Thermal processing does not pose an obstacle due to the close coefficient of thermal expansion between the two materials.
Even purer Alumina material Alsint 99.7 can be used if necessary. MTC provides tighly toleranced, high purity electrical isolation components for reactors and kilns (e.g. CVD reactors, DSS furnaces). This Alumina material can be used up to 1,700oC.

Thermal processing of silicon wafers and module glass can benefit from our Fused Silica rollers. These rollers are inert, with high mechanical strength, and good wear characteristics leading to a long life in a challenging high temperature environment. Other materials available in a roller/tube shapes are Alumina and Mullite, which offer similar characteristics at different economies. The same materials are available for thermal couple sheaths used for temperature measurements within the processing environment.
Our Stourport facility provides Silicon Nitride products which have been specifically tailored to suit Polysilicon manufacturing processes. The material maintains its strength in high temperature, highly corrosive atmospheres and is electrically insulating.
Morgan Technical Ceramics is at the forefront of applications engineering. We specialize in providing custom solutions to your problems. We work with our customers on projects involving many different sizes, tolerances, shapes and attributes, all of which are rigorously quality checked and delivered on time.
