Description

The Role – Principal Objectives:

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will be responsible for all production matters, including line management of a team of Process Leaders and Operatives.

Key Responsibilities: -

• To ensure customer requirements are met in full, including adherence to product specifications, quality expectations and on time delivery performance.
• Will have overall responsibility for the performance, discipline, recruitment and safety of all direct/indirect production personnel, including the Production planning/control function.
• Development of a fully competent, highly motivated and focussed production team through appropriate training (including Core skills), coaching and leadership.
• To be committed to and champion a 5S method of working ensuring a well organised, clean, neat and tidy working environment.
• To be committed to and implement effective health & safety / environmental policies; as the site Health & Safety Officer, to develop a team of H&S champions to promote and audit safe working practices.
• To work with Engineering / Technical functions to propose the process flow / factory layout, which is most efficient and effective for the manufacture of our products.
• To ensure all Manufacturing / Quality systems are fully effective and strictly adhered to in line with ISO9001.2000 and QS9000 requirements.
• To ensure that goods are efficiently and accurately despatched through management of a small team.
• Strive to achieve World class manufacturing standards.

The Person – Key Requirements:

• A minimum of ten years experience within a manufacturing environment is essential;
• Experience of component manufacturing environment is desirable;
• Production Management experience is essential. Minimum of 3 years experience managing a team of at least 35 persons;
• Experience of establishing Production/Manufacturing Strategy and achievement of high level production performance targets;
• Must be able to operate to a high standard within a team-based environment;
• Experience of using Continuous Improvement tools, such as Six Sigma, 5S and Lean Manufacturing is desirable;
• Proven leadership skills in a changing environment;
• Proven record of people development.
